Colorado Rep. Shannon Lofland resigned after her adult career was exposed

A Colorado police officer has turned in her badge after 21 years of public service. The reason for her departure was an ongoing investigation into her lucrative double life in the world of adult cinema.

Shannon Lofland, a 44-year-old wife, mother and now former Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputy, took her second job to save her family from debt crisis. She knew her after-hours activities likely violated protocol and resigned rather than prolong the investigation.

She protected and served until the end. The law enforcement veteran admitted she took a desperate step to save her home and provide for her family.

Lofland told CBS News Colorado after his resignation: “I was desperate, I was drowning. I found a legal, lucrative means to provide my family with the support I needed at the time, to save my home for them and to support my family.”

A storm had damaged her home, leaving her family with nearly $500,000 in damages that the insurance company wouldn’t cover. Add high interest rates to their adjustable-rate mortgage and the family found itself in foreclosure.

This doesn’t even take into account the increased costs for utilities, gas and food. But despite the resignation, it’s not a sad story. Lofland’s foray into the online adult industry has paid off. She was able to pay off her mortgage and fend off the pesky debt collectors.

The secret side job remained a secret and someone told the sheriff’s office what Lofland was up to when she was out of uniform. This led to an internal investigation being launched and the police officer he had worked with for more than two decades being suspended.

“It was a policy violation not to seek permission for a side job. I know that, and I knew that… it could be viewed as a double life,” she admitted, the NY Post reports.

“Many MPs and civil servants do what they can to make extra money, with or without permission. People are doing what they can to survive during this time.”

“My actions were born out of desperation,” Lofland said, adding that her husband supported her decision to work part-time in adult entertainment.

“Some may judge and say there are ‘better’ ways to make money, but at the time I had no other lucrative ways to do it.”

Lofland told CBS News Colorado that she wasn’t sure what she would do after she stepped down, but she hasn’t ruled out producing more adult content.

She could always take a page from a former Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputy’s playbook and start an OnlyFans account. That’s right, Lofland isn’t the only 40-year-old cop on the force to enter the world of adult entertainment.

Cast your mind back to January of last year and the story of Melissa Williams, the 46-year-old who lost her job as a police officer when city officials discovered her excellent work as Lieutenant Bella Lexi, aka “FILTHY MILF,” on the Internet.

There must be something in the water in Arapahoe County.
