Colorado woman for negligence after mother was killed by dogs

A woman from the city in Colorado was arrested on Friday for suspicion of criminal negligence that caused death after her older mother was killed in a dog attack in early February.

The 47-year-old Jessica Hoff was charged with criminal negligence that caused the death of an endangered adult, a crime of class 4 and 54 cases of serious cruelty to animals, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputies of the sheriff were called to a residence in the 4800 block by Jefferson BLVD. On February 3 about a report of an unconscious woman and arrived not to find the 76-year-old Lavonne-Hoff, in which several dogs loosen in the house. According to the release, about two dozen other dogs and seven birds were also found at home.

Lavonne Hoff was declared dead at the crime scene, and an autopsy later attributed her death to the dog attack.

“Sheriff’s detective carried out a comprehensive investigation and learned that Jessica Hoff had left her mother with her dogs at home on this day while she went to Pueblo to make errands,” said PCSO officer in the publication. “According to reports, Lavonne Hoff had dementia and needed 24-hour care. Detective learned that Lavonne Hoff was attacked by the dogs alone.”

PCSO detectives carried out search commands on the house and a second property of Jessica Hoff’s in Colorado City and found a total of 54 dogs and seven birds. The animals were lived under unsanitary conditions, and some of the dogs were in poor health according to PCSO release.

Jessica Hoff is recorded in the Pueblo County prison with a cash, guarantee or ownership bond of $ 50,000.
