Colts receive positive news on Alec Pierce ahead of Patriots

The Indianapolis Colts I got some good news before the Week 13 road game against wide receiver Alec Pierce New England Patriots.

Pierce participated fully in Friday’s practice after not participating on Wednesday or Thursday due to a foot injury. This is a welcome update for Shane Steichen’s offense as Josh Downs will not play due to a shoulder injury.

Pierce was the big play for Indy’s offense and quarterback Anthony Richardson with 27 catches for an astonishing 629 receiving yards (23.3 average) and 4 touchdowns. With Downs not playing, expect an increase in targets for Pierce, Michael Pittman Jr. and AD Mitchell.

The Patriots rank 22nd in the NFL in passing yards allowed at 224.4 per game, giving Indianapolis a chance to move the ball through the air. However, given running back Jonathan Taylor’s recent struggling performances, the Colts could look to place more emphasis on the running attack.

Indy can’t afford to lose today or say goodbye to its playoff hopes. With a lot at stake for the Colts on the road, there is little room for error in the offense around Richardson. With Drake Maye and Richardson as the latest starting quarterbacks, we’ll see which field general comes out on top at Gillette Stadium.
