Commanders’ Brian Robinson rushes 40 yards for his career touchdown

LANDOVER, Md. – Washington commanders have faced questions over the past two weeks about their once-potent offense. It took a series — and a long touchdown run from Brian Robinson — against the Tennessee Titans to perhaps rejuvenate the offense on Sunday.

Robinson, limited the previous week against Dallas with a sprained right ankle, ran 40 yards for a touchdown on Washington’s third play from scrimmage to give the Commanders a 7-0 lead.

Robinson’s previous long run for a touchdown was 15 yards; He now has eight rushing touchdowns this season – three more than his previous best.

On the second and first runs, Robinson followed pulling tackle Brandon Coleman through the gap between the right guard and the tackle and received a good block from tight end John Bates. Robinson ran unchallenged to score.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels completed two passes for 19 yards to open the series.

Washington’s offense struggled in its last two games in losses to Philadelphia and Dallas, scoring a total of 42 points. The Eagles held them to under 300 yards, while Dallas did the same until Washington scored 17 points in the final four minutes.

Washington then added two more touchdowns in the opening quarter. Daniels capped an 80-yard drive with a 4-yard run up the middle.

He then connected with Terry McLaurin for a 16-yard touchdown on a deep crosser with 24 seconds left in the first quarter. The 21 points represent the most points scored in the first quarter since a win over Dallas in Week 18 of the 2015 season.
