Commercial LPG price rises by Rs 16.5; Domestic gas tariffs remain unchanged | India News

New Delhi: The price of commercial LPG cylinders, mainly used by hotels and restaurants, increased by Rs 16.5 per 19 kg cylinder in the latest monthly revision, in line with international oil price trends. Additionally, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) or jet fuel was increased by 1.45 percent, PTI reported.

Commercial LPG prices have risen for the fifth consecutive month on a monthly basis, with the latest rise of Rs 16.5 bringing the price of a 19 kg cylinder to Rs 1,818.5. This follows an increase of Rs 62 in November. In the last five revisions, the price of commercial LPG cylinders has increased by Rs 172.5 to reach the highest level in a year.

Previously, prices had been cut for four consecutive months before the current cycle began in August, with a cumulative cut of Rs 148 per 19kg bottle. Currently, commercial LPG costs Rs 1,771 per cylinder in Mumbai, Rs 1,927 in Kolkata and Rs 1,980 in Chennai. Differences in ATF and LPG prices between states are due to differences in local taxes, including VAT.

According to state-run fuel companies, ATF prices rose by Rs 1,318.12 per kiloliter (kl) or 1.45 percent to Rs 91,856.84 per kl in the national capital, which houses one of the busiest airports in the country. This is the second consecutive monthly increase in ATF prices.

On November 1, ATF prices were hiked by Rs 2,941.5 per kg (3.3 percent) after two rounds of cuts brought prices to their lowest this year. Previously, tariffs were reduced by Rs 5,883 per kilogram (6.3 percent) on October 1 and by Rs 4,495.5 per kilogram (4.58 percent) on September 1. In Mumbai, ATF prices rose to Rs 85,861.02 per kg from Rs 84,642.91 previously.

Meanwhile, the price of household gas cylinders remains unchanged at Rs 803 for a 14.2 kg cylinder. State-owned fuel retailers – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) – review prices of ATF and cooking gas on a monthly basis based on average international fuel benchmarks and exchange rates.

Petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged, prices have been frozen since a Rs 2 per liter cut in mid-March ahead of the general elections. Currently, petrol costs Rs 94.72 per liter in Delhi while diesel costs Rs 87.62 per liter.
