Continuation of a legacy: La Art Show to continue despite forest fires | Art and culture

The La Art Show has been a staple for DTLA for three decades.

The organizers will continue this heritage this year and continue this year’s art show despite the forest fires in Southern California. Now firefighters and their families can enter the fair free of charge.

“The desire to support the community and my entire team – that basically made me come forward,” said Kassandra Voyagis, La Art Show Director and producer.

“Art heals, so we do many things to support the people affected by the fires.”

The show on the 30th anniversary will take place from Wednesday, February 19th to Sunday, February 23. The annual air fair began in 1994 as a small regional event that shows American regionalism and historical works. Since then it has become a large contemporary exhibition at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which was the first big event.

With the free admission to the exhibition of February 20 for firefighters and their families, the La Art Show will donate a charity organization that is involved in the reconstruction efforts, although the organizers have not yet determined. You will honor your original commitment and donate 15% of the proceeds to the life of the American Heart Association, why campaign.

The artist Robert Vargas, based in Los Angeles, creates a live wall picture entitled “Heroes” during the opening event of the art exhibition as a homage to the first aiders who serve the city. After completing the reconstruction efforts, you will auction it or give it away to the fire station.

Last year, over 100 organizations showed artistic works on the show, including exhibitors from Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. The international presence will continue this year, with dozens of galleries from all over the world.

“The international galleries come because they support the community and want to be there and help,” said Voyagis. “They come and they will present their artists. The local artists and local galleries want to continue. We are a very resilient community, so they are enthusiastic about it, because it gives them the opportunity to show their work and hopefully also to jump back with everything that happens. “

Building Bridges Art Exchange, a non -profit organization in Santa Monica, will present a stand at this year’s art exhibition. The status will present work by several artists who have lost their houses, and the proceeds will be in the reconstruction of the efforts for them.
