Cooper Flagg, Juju Watkins, less often air with Associated Press Player of the Year Awards

The race for the AP player of the Year of College basketball on the side of the women was not a race at all. The USC Sophomore Juju Watkins took home the award with almost unanimous coordination on Thursday. The youth movement passed on Friday as an AP player of the year as an AP player of the year.

Neither of the two selections is a big surprise. Although the 18-year-old flag was a newcomer, he was the history of the college basketball season on the men’s side. In the regular season, he scored an average of 18.9 points and 7.5 rebounds and has Duke about to play in another national championship. It is a main reason why Duke took number 1 in 1st place in the last top 25 survey of AP.

With the award, Flagg only becomes the fourth newcomer who receives the honor. Flagg is in an excellent company, since Zion Williamson, Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant are the three other newcomers who wins the award. The Duke star and Auburn striker Johni Broome were the only two players who received votes for the AP player of the year on the men’s side.

Flag’s excellence at college level could be short-lived. Flagg is the alleged No. 1 in the NBA design of 2025, should it explain. Flagg is expected to make the leap into the NBA after just one season in college. Even Duke trainer Jon Scheyer indicated so much after the team’s sweet 16 victory and said: “Cooper is about to continue with the next step, which he will take afterwards.”

Juju Watkins takes the AP player of the year home with him

Watkins ran away with the award on the women of the women and received 29 of the 31 votes from the panel of Associated Press. Notre Dame Star Hannah Hidalgo received the other two votes.

After an enormous Freshman season, Watkins turned an equally strong second year. In 21 games she scored an average of 23.9 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Trojans. WATKINS had USC in a good position to take a deep run in the NCAA tournament, but tore up her ACL in the team’s second round against Mississippi State in the NCAA tournament game. The USC went back to the elite without Watkins, where the Uconn team was eliminated.

Similar to Flagg, Watkins is the fourth second who takes the award home. Watkins is also in good company because Courtney Paris, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart won the AP player of the year as Sophomores.

While Watkins is a top WNBA design view, it is not entitled to enter the draft in 2025. Watkins, 19, must either make a degree or 22 before it can enter the WNBA design. She will return to USC if it has recovered from the ACL injury and continues to build its design. If Watkins is ready to make the jump, it will probably be one of the top picks – if not the top selection – available.

It is difficult to argue with both elections. Pearl led Auburn to a 32-5 record. The team took number 4 in the last top 25 survey of AP. The success of the regular season of the team passed into March Madness. Pearl has Auburn shortly before reaching the national championship game for the first time in school history. You have to come to Florida Florida to keep your championship hopes alive.

Pitino led St. Johns to a 31-5 record this season. It was a big step after the team ended 20-13 last year. St. Johns wrangled 5th place behind Auburn-in the last top 25 survey of the AP. The success of the regular season of the team did not exceed the NCAA tournament. St. Johns was annoyed in the second round of the event of Arkansas.

Pearl and Pitino weren’t the only coaches who received voices in accordance with AP. Pat Kelsey from Louisville, Jon Scheyer von Duke, Dennis Gates from Missouri, Tom Izzo von Michigan, Ben McCollum from Drakes, and Eric Olen from UC San Diego have at least one vote for the price.
