Couple still fighting to get their RV back after it was stolen and recovered

A local couple has lost their home not once, but twice.

Investigators say two suspects stole an RV from a gas station at South 64th Street and Pacific Avenue in Tacoma on Thanksgiving Day.

The couple says the owner of the gas station allowed them to park their RV outside so they would have a safe place to stay overnight.

However, according to police, the motorhome was abandoned at the scene of the accident two days after it was stolen and confiscated by officers.

The couple wasn’t informed their RV was recovered until FOX 13’s David Rose located it at the Burns Tow Yard and notified them.

But when the couple went to pick up their RV, they found themselves in even more trouble as they were told they would have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it back.

“It’s been in the impound for three days and they won’t even allow us to look at it or our possessions unless we pay like $700 tonight or like $6 tomorrow, which we don’t have right now.”

The couple is staying with family for now until they can figure out what to do next.

FOX 13 Seattle is working to obtain surveillance video of the stolen RV.
