Court documents detail the alleged confessed murder of Altus Thanksgiving

ALTUS, Okla. (KSWO) – On November 28, Altus Police responded to a call about a possible homicide due to a report of a vehicle on fire.

The Jackson County Courthouse released court documents to 7News showing that Tammy Lockman has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder.

It goes on to state that Tammy Lockman wrongfully and maliciously caused the death of Gordon Lockman on Thanksgiving. She did this by pouring gasoline on the 2009 Chevy Suburban that Gordon was inside. She then set fire to the vehicle, which Gordon was unable to escape, dying from his wounds.

The crime was punishable by the death penalty, life imprisonment, or life imprisonment without parole.

Expected charges include first-degree murder and third-degree arson.

Details indicate that police and the Altus Fire Department arrived on scene, extinguished the fire and located a deceased person in the driver’s seat.

Using information from the license plate, police were able to locate Tammy Lockman’s nearby address, where they then located which house the address belonged to and made contact with the suspect.

Once there, Tammy told police that Gordon was in the house – but further investigation proved this to be untrue. Police found a can of gasoline and packets of pills in the house.

Later, Tammy allegedly confessed that she had made threats against Gordon and admitted that she and Gordon had been drunk.

After she was arrested and booked, officers said Tammy made an abrupt confession: “I set my husband on fire for a really good reason.”

Witnesses told police video footage showed Tammy approaching the suburb, pouring the contents of a container into the car and forcing the passenger to get out. Then you see flames flickering out of the car windows. Tammy is seen watching the scene for a few minutes before walking away. The person inside (later identified as Gordon) can be heard screaming “Help me!”

When first responders arrived, all that was left was a charred body.

This video coupled with Tammy’s abrupt confession was enough for the police to arrest Tammy for Murder 1.

On November 29, Tammy was interviewed by police and Tammy admitted that she and Gordon had been arguing and drinking most of the day. An argument broke out between them over where the vehicle was parked – a profane exchange ensued which ended with Tammy dousing her husband in the car with petrol and setting it on fire.

She claims she expected Gordon to get out of the vehicle and put out the fire. When she left the scene, she went back inside, took 20 Gabapentin tablets and claims she doesn’t remember anything after that – except waking up at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
