Cranford, New Jersey train train

Cranford, New Jersey (WABC) – A freight train in Cranford, New Jersey, growled with rail traffic on Tuesday morning.

The NJ Transit service between Cranford and Newark Penn Station was suspended when the crews worked to clear the area.

It happened in the Raritan Valley line between Cranford and Union Station, and about 20 freight cars were affected shortly after 7 a.m.

No injuries were reported and there were no dangerous materials on the train.

Conrail workers removed the undamaged train cars.

The trains run in a modified schedule and should be normal again within a few days.

NJ Transit used the bus service in the region to transport customers to Newark Penn Station.
