The Chicago Cubs are apparently the top team in the National League Central after a variety of offseason supplements, including a trade for Kyle Tucker. Chicago could try to increase his squad by continuing to take major steps this season.

A place where the Cubs could look to upgrade is your pitching rotation.

Jon Conahan from Athlon Sports recently predicted that the Cubs could make a shocking interdivision trade with the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire Brewers Ace Freddy Peralta.

“In a relatively below average NL Central, it would not be surprising to see Milwaukee again at the top of the overall ranking,” wrote Conahan. “The Chicago Cubs are the most important threat to the brewers, and Chicago should feel comfortable when Chicago takes over a much better team on paper, and if things run as planned, they should win the division. And that could be a good thing for more reasons.

“While trading in the brewers is always unlikely, the cubs that have one of the best farm systems in MLB are possible. If the brewers continue to fight and fall out of the playoff dispute, Freddy Peralta could be an excellent addition to this rotation.”

This could be a big step for the Cubs, but it is unclear whether the brewers would consider such a deal. Milwaukee is known for the development of jugs, so a trade of Peralta could make sense.

The brewers have already lost managers Craig for the Cubs, but they could possibly also lose Peralta to them if the trading package is correct.
