Cucumber recall could impact Alabama

Some cucumber products that pose a possible health risk due to salmonella have been recalled. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and potentially life-threatening infections in young children, the elderly, the frail, and those with weakened immune systems.

SunFed Produce, LLC (SunFed) is issuing a recall for whole fresh American cucumbers of all sizes that are “packaged in bulk cardboard containers marked “SunFed” or in a generic white box or black plastic crate with a label containing the affected information Producer contains.” Name: “Agrotato, SA de CV,” said the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

The SunFed recall affects the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin, as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Calgary, Saskatchewan and Ontario.

Baloian Farms of Arizona Co., Inc. (Baloian) is issuing a recall for whole fresh American cucumbers of all sizes packaged in “bulk box containers” marked with the brand “Pamela,” a generic white box with a sticker, which contains the information of the affected producer name “Agrotato, SA de CV” or a clear PamPak branded bag containing 6 individual cucumbers with the UPC number 8 2540107010 6,” the FDA said.

The Balois recall affects the following states: California, Arizona, Texas, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Colorado, Kansas, New York, Massachusetts, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Alaska and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.

Both recalls apply to products sold between October 12, 2024 and November 26, 2024.

The FDA also expressed concern that the recalled pickles “may have reached consumers through grocery and retail outlets that may be located in states other than those listed above.”
