Cynthia Erivo “really” wants to play X-Men’s Storm after “Wicked.”

Cynthia Erivo has her sights set on another high-profile role.

During an interview at the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City on Tuesday, January 7, the said Evil The actress was asked by the organization what “dream role” she would like to play.

“I really want to play Storm,” Erivo, 38, said of the Marvel superhero, who first rose to fame on the big screen in the 2000s through Halle Berry X Men.

“I know it sounds flippant, but I think we haven’t figured out how amazing she is and how troubled she is inside,” Erivo added. “I think there’s a world where we could do something with this.”

Storm is a weather-controlling mutant whose origins lie in 1970s comics and who found fame on screen as Berry, now 58. The Oscar winner last wore the cape and pale white wig in 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past.

A younger version of the character was later portrayed by Alexandra Shipp in 2016 X-Men: Apocalypse and most recently in 2019 Dark Phoenix.

In July 2020, Janelle Monáe stated in an interview with Rich magazine and revealed: “I definitely threw it out there.”

“One of my dreams was always to play Storm,” Monáe, 39, said at the time. “I don’t know if she’ll get in Black pantherbut it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they stand with this.

“Many women have played Storm and done an exceptional job,” Monáe added, “and I would love to join that line-up of artists and do Storm justice.”

One of Erivos Evil Co-star Ariana Grande was also asked by multiple media outlets at Tuesday’s gala about a role she may seem to be manifesting her style of late: Audrey Hepburn.
