Dan Orlovsky finally defeated Shannon Sharpe.
A staunch defender of quarterbacks in the NFL and a former quarterback himself, Sharpe accused him of being an Aaron Rodgers “shill” – and the same goes for Joe Burrow. Although the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback is putting together an MVP-worthy season lauded by her ESPN colleague Troy Aikman, Sharpe has tried to undercut the 28-year-old Burrow at every opportunity.
When the Bengals started 0-3, Sharpe was the first to catch the “blame Joe Burrow” virus, and his slander of the LSU product nearly ruined Marcus Spears. That didn’t deter Sharpe, who took his victory lap when the Bengals were underwhelming at 3-5. Then they were 4-8, and Burrow helped them to five straight wins, which just wasn’t good enough to get them into the AFC playoff race through the back door.
And wouldn’t you know it, Sharpe jumped on it.
Since then, he has reprimanded Orlovsky every time Burrow did something wrong. And when Sharpe tried to dupe him on Monday First recordingthe former journeyman quarterback arrived with receipts.

Sharpe implored Orlovsky to tell the viewers at home who the last Triple Crown winner was to miss the playoffs. For reference, Ja’Marr Chase became the sixth wide receiver in the Super Bowl era to lead the league in receptions (127), yards (1,708) and touchdown receptions (17).
But Sharpe fell right into the trap, conveniently forgetting about the wide receiver who accomplished the same feat in 1992.
“Your brother,” Orlovsky said wisely, pointing in Sharpe’s direction before he could finish his question.
That would be his brother Sterling Sharpe.
“I can’t do it either. I can’t do it either. What? That was over 30 years ago,” Shannon said, finally realizing he had fallen into the trap he had set for someone else.
Yikes.
Orlovsky – 1
Sharpe-0
Sharpe may have thought he had cornered Orlovsky. But the former quarterback ultimately delivered a flawless counterattack.
