Daniel Farke could face an incredibly tough decision for Leeds United today – view

Leeds United left-back Sam Byram has performed tremendously since joining for the suspended Junior Firpo, but the former Barcelona player is available today and will certainly find his way back into the team.

The Whites travel across the Pennines this afternoon to take on Blackburn Rovers, who are bouncing back this season under John Eustace and making a push for the play-offs after relegation on the final day of last season.

A win for Leeds on Wednesday night kept spirits high in Daniel Farke’s camp, taking them to 35 points from 17 games – moving them ahead of the golden record of two points per game.

Boost for Leeds United: Junior Firpo is back in the running today

As Leeds prepare for a trip to Ewood Park, they can look forward to a major team boost in the form of Junior Firpo.

The left-back has missed the last three league games due to a suspension from the FA over an incident that was retrospectively punished after the defeat at Millwall.

Firpo was seen ‘headbutting’ Danny McNamara and while the defender made huge use of the contact, the Leeds man couldn’t complain about a silly red mist moment.

Luckily, Leeds have now won the three games without Firpo against QPR, Swansea City and most recently Luton Town.

Sam Byram faces a tough selection decision at Blackburn against Leeds

It seems inevitable that Firpo will be brought back into the fold, adding even more attacking quality to this Leeds side who are just getting going with three wins in a row.

However, Firpo’s return means someone will have to make room and that man is likely to be Sam Byram, who has stepped in wonderfully since Millwall’s absence.

With an assist at Swansea and an impressive goal against Luton, Byram more than fulfilled his role, filling in for the suspended Firpo.

While it is clear that Firpo deserves to come on again to complete Leeds’ strong back four, it still seems incredibly harsh for Byram to go back to the bench after such performances.

Byram has proven over the last three games that even if he’s the second choice, he’s more than good enough to not only survive on this team, but also get plenty of possession.
