Day 8 schedule: Alcaraz leads the Spanish contingent

Seeded number 3 on a big day for Spain Carlos Alcaraz will compete at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday in a bid to get past Great Britain Jack Draper and continue his efforts to complete a career Grand Slam.

The pair have met three times before, with Draper winning the last meeting, although the Brit has never beaten Alcaraz on hardcourt.

Over at Margaret Court Arena, Spain’s Paula Badosa – only for the second time in the fourth round of the AO – meets Serbia’s Olga Danilovic, who is already breaking new ground here at Melbourne Park.

They are followed by Badosa’s compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who will be hoping for a shorter game when he faces 2023 semi-finalist Tommy Paul, as the Spaniard has already spent more than ten hours on the court at AO 2025, including two marathons of five sentences.

Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka starts in the RLA against 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva, followed by number 3 seed Coco Gauff, who meets Swiss Belinda Bencic.

Novak Djokovic headlines the Night Session at RLA on Day 8 as he continues his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title. He will face number 24 seed and 2023 quarterfinalist Jiri Lehecka.
