BOSTON COLLEGE VS. DARTMOUTH – ALL TIME SERIES

  • Today marks the 32nd meeting ever between the two schools.
  • Boston College holds a 23-8 edge over Dartmouth in the all-time series, including a 16-2 edge at home.
  • On November 9th, 2021 – the first game for the head coach Earl Grant at BC – the Eagles earned a 73-57 win over the Big Green at home.
  • BC has beaten Dartmouth in 12 of its last 13 games, dating back to 1976-77.
  • The Eagles are currently on an eight-game winning streak against Dartmouth.

CAYMAN, SAW, CONQUERED: EAGLES GO 3-0 AND WIN CAYMAN ISLANDS CLASSIC

  • Joshua Beadles 3FG pushed Boston College past Boise State by 2.2 seconds to win the Cayman Islands Classic.
  • The 63-61 victory over Boise State gave BC its first MTE victory since the 2018-19 season, when it won the first Fort Myers Tipoff. It was the first eight-team MTE win since the Eagles won the 2003 Paradise Jam.
  • Each of the Eagles’ three victories had distinctly different paths to their final outcome.
  • In the opening game against ODU, BC led by nearly 35:00 and posted both its highest points total (82) and largest margin of victory (30).
  • Donald Hand Jr. posted his third double-double of the season (12p/10r) while 14 different Eagles appeared in action.
  • The Eagles had a season-best 18 assists and had a season-low eight turnovers in the even win.
  • Against Missouri State, the Eagles made 3-pointers to force overtime (Donald Hand Jr.) and win the game (Elijah Strong).
  • hand and Fred Payne BC led the way with 18 points each, while Strong added 13 points – including eight in overtime.
  • Boston College recorded its most blocked shots in a game in nearly two years, turning away 10 attempts by Missouri State University.
  • In the title game against Boise, the Eagles erased a nine-point deficit with less than nine minutes left.
  • There were seven ties and five lead changes in the second half before Beadle’s crucial three-pointer secured the victory.
  • Chad Venning led BC with 16 points; Beadle’s 3-pointer gave him a new career high of 13 points.
  • The Eagles’ strong defense held the Broncos 9:00 minutes without a field goal in the finale and 24 points below their season average.
  • Hand Jr. was named tournament MVP and averaged 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists over the three games.
  • Strong was also named to the all-tournament team and averaged 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in BC’s three wins.

  • In the first five games, one BC player has recorded a double-double: Donald Hand Jr, (22p10r) against The Citadel, Roger McFarlane (11p/11r) vs. VCU, Elijah Strong (25p/13r) vs. Temple, Hand (15p/14r) vs. Loyola (Md); Hand vs ODU (12p/10r).
  • It was the first time since the 2006-07 season that at least one player recorded a double-double in five consecutive games.

BOSTON COLLEGE is off to its best start in six years

  • With a 6-1 record through the first seven games of the season, Boston College is off to its best start in six years.
  • The Eagles got off to a 6-1 start in the 2018/19 season and, among other things, secured the Fort Myers Tipoff Classic MTE.
  • Thanks to its current five-game winning streak – the team’s longest since the 2017-18 season – BC is 6-1.
  • A win over Dartmouth would be Boston College’s first 7-1 start since the 2007-08 season.

THE CAYMAN CLUTCH GENE

  • Three different Eagles connected on 3-pointers that either forced OT or sealed the win for Boston College at the Caymans.
  • Donald Hand Jr. made a 3-pointer from the right wing with 14 seconds left against Missouri State to force overtime.
  • In an extra frame Elijah Strong With four ticks to go, he hit a 3-ball from the left wing to seal the 76-74 victory.
  • Joshua Beadles Stepback 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left put BC over Boise State and the tournament title.

I HAVE SIX OF THEM

  • Roger McFarlane has grabbed at least six rebounds in 27 of his last 29 games played since December 16, 2023.
  • McFarlane has had at least six rebounds in 67 of his 97 career games, including five in seven games this season.
  • The 6-4 guard ranks second on the team in rebounding, averaging 7.0 boards per outing.

Hail, Charles the Third

  • In seven games Chas Kelley III averages 3.1 assists per appearance and an assist/turnover ratio of 2.75:1.
  • He had nine points and a career-best eight helpers against Temple, while he added nine points and five dimes against Loyola (Md.).
  • The junior guard recorded six assists and just two turnovers in 38 minutes of play in the overtime win over Missouri State.
  • From outside, Kelley made 8 of 20 3-point field goals, a rate of 40.0%.
  • His assist/turnover ratio of 2.75:1 ranks 10th in the ACC and 90th nationally.

SUPPORT/SALES RATE DURING WINNING STRIKES

  • Since posting a season-low four assists and a season-high 17 turnovers against VCU, Boston College has calmed down.
  • The Eagles have won five times in a row and have significantly improved their ball control during that time.
  • Through five games, BC has recorded 70 assists with just 56 turnovers – an assist/turnover ratio of 1.25.
  • In three of the five games, BC was able to keep its turnovers to eight.
  • Boston College recorded 14 assists and 31 turnovers in the first two games (0.45:1).

  • Sophomore guard Fred Payne has scored in double figures in three of the last four games off the bench.
  • In the overtime win against Missouri State, Payne scored a career-high 18 points – including a key 3-pointer in OT.
  • In the opening game of the Cayman Islands Classic, he scored 11 points in 14 minutes of play against ODU.
  • Against Loyola (Md.), Payne scored 10 points in 11 minutes of play and hit 4 of 7 shots, including two 3-pointers.
  • Almost a year ago, Payne suffered a season-ending knee injury on December 5, 2023 against CCSU
  • So far this year he is averaging 7.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14 minutes per game.

Charities

  • Donald Hand Jr. He ranks nationally in free throws made (37th, 38th), attempted (41st, 94th) and percentage (0.902, 62nd).
  • Handcrafted 19 of 20 from the line in the first two games of the season, including 11 of 11 against The Citadel.
  • The last BC player to hit at least 23 of 25 free throws over a three-game span was Olivier Hanlan in the 2014-15 season.
  • Hanlan posted a 25-for-26 record over a three-game span, including a perfect 14-for-14 from the line on Feb. 24, 2015 at Pitt.

  • Donald Hand Jr. ranks 14th in the ACC in scoring (15.3) and seventh in rebounding (8.3). He leads in FT% (.902)
  • Hand is one of three players ranked in the top 15 in the ACC in scoring and rebounding (Flagg, Duke; Raynaud, Stanford).
  • Roger McFarlane checks in 13th in the ACC in rebounding (7.0), making BC one of two teams (Syracuse) with two players in the league’s top 15 in rebounding.
  • Chad Venning (3rd, 1.71 bpg) and Jayden Hastings (t13th, 1.3 bpg) are also among the league leaders in blocks.
  • Chas Kelley III He ranks 10th in the league with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.75:1 (22:8).
