Death investigation underway after body found under bridge

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office is investigating after a body was found under a bridge. At 9:44 a.m. Saturday morning, the E-911 Communications Center received a call regarding a report of an adult male under a bridge. Authorities arrived and the A man was found dead on an embankment under a bridge on Blackjack Road. The bridge crosses Lake Hartwell near Foxwood Hills. The coroner said it was believed the victim died on Friday. The victim was identified by the coroner as 21-year-old Richard Christian Craig of Westminster. An autopsy will be performed on Monday to determine the cause of death. The sheriff’s office believes there is no threat to the public.
