December starts off dry but quickly turns wet

AUSTIN (KXAN) — By the time final numbers are released, November will rank among the top five hottest November months in the Austin area. It was also another month that was drier than normal, but wetter than the previous two months combined!

Our last night of the month will be mostly clear to partly cloudy, with isolated mid and high clouds moving in from the northwest. It will still be chilly tonight, with temperatures in the low 40s and upper 30s, but most areas aren’t expected to get much colder.

Monday and most of Tuesday are expected to remain dry, with an overall trend of increasing cloudiness.

A “reverse trough” will approach from the south late Tuesday, bringing good rain chances on Wednesday before becoming much drier on Thursday.

There are good chances of rain again on Friday and Saturday.

Given the chance of rain over several days, the rainfall totals don’t look particularly impressive as this wet period will see mostly light showers. Areas along and east of I-35 look to gain the most over the next week but are generally still under 1 inch.

Temperatures will be in the 60s for most of the next seven days, with the exception of Thursday.
