Dech says “opportunities” await him in the Bullets fight

Adelaide 36ers swingman Sunday December trusts his teammates to face the Bullets in Brisbane on Friday night.

Already without a suspended import dup Kendric Davis And Montrezl HarrellThe 36ers will also be missing their captain DJ Vasiljevic, who injured his Achilles tendon last round against Tasmania JackJumpers.

Dech said even though Adelaide is missing the team’s top three scorers, he is confident the next wave of players are ready to make an immediate impact.

“It will hurt to lose him (Vasiljevic), but it’s a great opportunity for other guys to step up,” Dech said.

“We saw Keanu (Rasmussen) And Ben (Griscti) played great minutes in the last game and I expect the same from him Jacob Rigoni this game too.

“Everyone has to take a step forward and make it a team effort.”

Rasmussen was a revelation against the JackJumpers last Saturday night, scoring nine points and dishing out four assists while also spending plenty of time guarding superstar import Milton Doyle.

“This is a great opportunity and they have taken it calmly, they are ready for the moment,” said Dech.

“They have proven it day after day in practice.

“With our squad we have so many stars that it is difficult for boys to get a chance.

“So when it comes, you have to grab it with both hands.

“I think Keanu, Jacob and Ben will be ready when their number is called.”

Dech is seen as a player who will limit Bullet import guard James Batemon, who scored 51 points in his last outing at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

“Batemon is such a fantastic offensive talent, he showed that right before the FIBA break,” said Dech.

“But for us it’s a system, I go out there to do my job and make his job difficult and we have people like him Isaac (Humphries), Jarell (Martin) and Ben protecting on the edge.”
