Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix in attendance at the Alabama High School Football State Champions

It’s not every day you see a current NFL quarterback at a high school football game.

Well, unless your head football coach is the father of said professional signal-caller.

That’s the case tonight in the Alabama Class 7A high school football state championship game between Phenix City Central and Thompson. Current Denver Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix is in attendance to watch his father Patrick coach in the state title game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.

Below is a photo taken by Al.com of Nix attending the 7A state title game.

Nix played his high school ball at Pinson Valley High School, eventually committing and signing with Auburn before starring at Oregon. In 2018, Nix was Alabama’s Mr. Football and Gatorade Player of the Year.

The Broncos selected Nix with number 12 in the 2024 NFL Draft back in the spring. Nix has started all 13 games for Denver and has thrown for 2,842 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Below is 247Sports’ rating of Nix when he was at Pinson Valley.

A big enough quarterback with some stockiness who seems capable of withstanding some hits at the next level. Very instinctive passer with creativity as a playmaker. Demonstrates sudden movements and quick reactions in the pocket to evade rushers and deliver the ball. Fast thinker. Possesses light feet with good energy. Extremely precise, especially on short and medium throws. More athletic than you think and can be a threat in the running game. Doesn’t have a huge arm and can make big throws down the field. Has a strong football pedigree. Looks like a multi-year starter and impact quarterback who fits well in today’s game. Possible first-round NFL draft pick.
