Denver Falls to Idaho State

POCATELLO, ID –The Denver women’s basketball team lost 73-61 on the road to the Idaho State Bengals on Wednesday.

The Pioneers (3-4) had two players score in double figures, led by Mary Wilsonwho had 15 points. Jordan Jones added 11 points and eight rebounds and Angelina Robles added nine points.

The Denver offense fired its attacks from beyond the arc, making nine three-pointers on 21 attempts. Wilson hit five treys for the Pioneers in the contest.

Denver forced 14 turnovers at Idaho State. The Pioneers turned those insights into 14 points on offense. Wilson’s one steal was a game-changer for Denver.

How it happened

Denver struggled out of the gate and fell behind 24-18 at the end of the first quarter.

The Pioneers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and found themselves trailing 37-29 at halftime.

Denver’s deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Pioneers trailed 62-40 entering the fourth quarter.

Idaho State continued to extend its lead in the fourth period, building a 68-45 lead before Denver went on a 6-0 run capped by Jones’ layup to cut the deficit to 68-51 with 4:33 left reduced. The Pioneers continued their comeback, but Idaho State managed to hold on for the 73-61 win. Denver fired away from the middle of the quarter, knocking down four shots, scoring 12 of its 21 points.
