Denver man accused of shooting into moving car

Lone Tree police arrested 27-year-old Oscar Lozoya-Borrego on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

LONE TREE, Colo. – Police in Lone Tree have arrested a man accused of firing a shot into a moving car on Interstate 25.

The Lone Tree Police Department said in a news release that it received a 911 call reporting shots fired shortly after 6:50 a.m. Tuesday from a man who said he and four other people were on I-25 near the county line Road was heading south when they saw the driver of a black sedan driving aggressively.

The driver of the sedan pulled up next to the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle and was holding a handgun, the release said. According to police, the driver then fired a bullet into the passenger side bumper of the victim’s vehicle at a speed of approximately 80 mph. Nobody was injured.

Lone Tree police said officers and investigators responded and learned that the victims had recorded the suspect vehicle and its license plate number on a cell phone. This helped investigators find the shooter’s car in the area of ​​Main Street and South Chambers Road in Parker around 1:30 p.m., police said. With the assistance of the Parker Police Department, Lone Tree Police detectives took the suspect into custody.

The suspect is identified as 27-year-old Oscar Lozoya-Borrego of Denver. According to police, he was arraigned at the Douglas County Justice Center on several charges, including five counts of attempted first-degree murder. He is being held on $500,000 bail.

Police said they searched Lozoya-Borrego’s car and found a gun. They believe it was an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the public.
