Derrion Reid, Alabama’s basketball striker, makes the decision for the 2025-26 season

The Alabama men’s basketball duty schedule for 2025-26 will not include any of the highest recruits in the program history.

Forward Derrion Reid has entered its name in the Pro ON3 transfer portal

His first semester season was influenced by injuries. Reid missed a large part of the second half of the SEC game, but returned to the SEC tournament and the NCAA tournament. He played for 13 minutes against Duke in the elite, his biggest since he played for 15 minutes against Texas A&M on January 11th.

Reid scored an average of 6.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.2 blocks in 24 games, which were played in his first season of the collegiate basketball. He also started three games.

According to 247sports, the former all-American of McDonald’s from Grovetown, Georgia, is only classified in all-time commits for The Crimson Tide. This makes Reid the highest recruit during Nate Oats era. Reid was ahead of Brandon Miller, JD Davison, Richard Hendrix, Aiden Sherrell and more.

Reid’s exit means that Alabama will have lost four strikers from last season: Mouhamed Dioubate and Jarin Stevenson entered the transfer portal and Grant Nelson’s authorization.

In the meantime, Alabama kept the center of Aiden Sherrell and the Wachen Aden Holloway, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. and Houston Mallet.

The Crimson Tide also landed Noah Williamson (Bucknell), Taylor Bol Bowen (State Florida) and Jalil Bethea (Miami) from the transfer portal. Add the three incoming first semester, London Jemison, Davion Hannah and Amari Allen, and that leaves about three scholarships open if Alabama wants to use them for 2025-26.
