Detroit Red Wings game today against Buffalo Sabres: time, TV channel

The Detroit Red Wings have the second fewest points in the Eastern Conference as of Monday.

Progress isn’t always linear, but a year after narrowly missing out on the playoffs via a tiebreaker on the final day, the start of the 2024-25 season feels like a complete disappointment.

The Red Wings have lost five straight games, with two of those losses coming in overtime and all five losses coming by one point.

There have been high-scoring losses, low-scoring losses and everything in between, but no matter how you look at it, the Red Wings aren’t getting the results. If the Wings don’t turn things around soon, head coach Derek Lalonde could be at risk of losing his job.

It’s easy to point the finger at a coach when results aren’t good for the team, but there’s plenty of blame to go around. Big offseason signing Vladimir Tarasenko was a disappointment, scoring just four goals this season and going 16 games without scoring at one point. Patrick Kane wasn’t as good as last year and only recently returned from injury. And the Wings need help on the blue line, where they weren’t as sharp as they were last year either.

All in all, it’s time for the Red Wings to shut up.
