Disappointed Spotify users are all complaining the same way after Spotify Wrapped is finally released – music

After what feels like a wait of a lifetime, the time has finally come… Spotify has released its information about “2024 Wrapped”.

For those unfamiliar with the concept (most likely Apple Music users), the streaming platform Spotify collects users’ information and tells them the most played artists and tracks.

Over the past few years, Wrapped has been an incredibly in-depth look into the human psyche, and we’re personally addicted to hearing people share which artists they’re obsessed with.

Not only did we learn who and what we listened to on reruns, we also took a look at which podcasts we couldn’t get enough of, which cities we listened to the most, and which genres are the most popular, among other things.

Although it looks slightly different from year to year, Spotify Wrapped is a personalized report that evaluates the year’s listening data.

This year, users were slightly disappointed as the Wrapped experience seemed to lack so much detail.

One person wrote on Twitter: “Spotify Wrapped has failed as badly this year as the music cities, the playlists, the top genres or the listening auras… all waiting for WHAT #SpotifyWrapped2024.”

Another said: “Why is this year’s edition so empty? No top genres and the whole theme was just…colors and moving geometric shapes? What a huge disappointment.”

A third added: “#SpotifyWrapped2024 flopped this year. No playlist, no genre, no music city.”

A fourth said: “Spotify packaging has been so boring this year! Where are the random facts? All they told us was our top artist, our top song and the minutes listened to.”

Spotify Wrapped has been part of the streaming service since 2016 and continues to go viral every year because people can post colorful graphics to their story while humbly bragging (or ranting) about their music taste.

It’s become a staple activity to take part in as you prepare to say goodbye to the year that’s about to end – so people are frustrated that they can’t think about their listening habits in as much detail this year.

It remains to be seen whether Spotify will release more detailed statistics in the coming days or whether we’ll just have to make do with what we’ve been given.

Judging by my social media feed, one thing is for sure: a lot of people have been listening to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé this year.
