Do you have to leave? Check out some of the top states where Louisiana likes to vacation

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Every now and then we all need a break to forget about the stresses of life, work and in some cases even health.

Reducing travel time and travel affordability are two main reasons why people want to vacation closer to home. A staycation is a vacation you spend in your home country instead of traveling abroad – although some people think of it as a staycation close to home.

QR Code Generator experts used data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics to analyze interstate passenger trips by origin and destination.

“Here in the United States, there are endless places to explore because our country is so large. From mountainous, snowy regions to golden sandy beaches, heatwaves and breathtaking coastlines, to breathtaking lakes, rivers and endless forests to bustling cities that never sleep,” said Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator.

Data on interstate passenger trips were collected by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics by origin and destination state. The top five states with the most travel determined each home state’s most popular list.

Depending on your style, you may like a destination close to home, or you may want a trip further afield to make it feel more like a vacation.

Florida is the most popular state for Louisiana travelers. In 2022, Louisiana residents visited Florida approximately 3.4 million times, with the most popular attractions being Miami Beach, Everglades National Park and Disney World.

The second most popular vacation state for Louisianans is Alabama, with nearly 2.7 million logged visits by Louisianans. Even though there is a strong rivalry between the Bayou Bengals and the Crimson Tide, we still find time to enjoy the state’s nature and tourist towns. People enjoy the amazing barbecue that Alabama offers.

There were around 1.8 million visits to Georgia in 2022. The state has much to offer, including hiking adventures with breathtaking views from Stone Mountain. Atlanta is also a trendy destination where travelers can enjoy the adventures of city life and perhaps take a trip to Six Flags over Georgia.

In Louisiana, music and good tunes nourish the soul, so it makes sense that Tennessee is a place where we find solace. Approximately 956,000 trips from Bayou State residents were tracked. Nashville, the home of country music, offers countless ways to enjoy your stay. Tennessee offers impeccable views of the Smokey Mountains and some historical insight into Memphis, home of Beale Street and the blues.

Illinois is a popular location with many options to choose from. According to a 2022 study, about 600,000 people from Louisiana visited the state. Whether you want to try your first deep-dish pizza in the Windy City or enjoy a history lesson with the sights along the Great River Road, Illinois is a great getaway destination.

Overall, a staycation can be easy on your wallet and check things off your bucket list. They are easy to plan and can be implemented quickly without much planning effort. If you are planning to travel soon, any of the suggested places will be a great time to enjoy and relax.
