Do you think you’re overworked in New Jersey? Study says about it

New Jersey is so expensive that we lead the nation in young adults in their 30s still living in their family homes. Couples can’t afford houses, singles can’t afford rent, and getting ahead feels impossible.

We believe that the only reward our companies give for good work is more work without more pay. It’s like a real-life version of “Office Space” when Lumbergh corners you at your desk and says, “Yeah, you have to come over on Sunday, so yeah, that would be great.”

If you feel so overloaded by your main job that you barely have time for your two side hustles, which you only have because your main job doesn’t pay, you’re not alone.

However, you are wrong.

Well, I’m not the one saying you’re wrong. I’m telling you, a just-released study ranking overworked states says you’re wrong. If you feel like your job in New Jersey is completely overloaded, believe it or not, this data says that in New Jersey we are actually below the national average for hard work done.

I know, I know, I question it too. I’m just the messenger.

The study, conducted by personal injury law firm Phillips Law Firm, examined 2024 Bureau of Labor Statistics employment data, taking into account weekly work hours for each state to determine which states work the most throughout the year.

It turns out that New Jersey is ranked 33rd, which means most states are more overworked than us. When you look at hours worked annually, our state actually works 1.37% less than the national average.

Hmmm. I’m not sure if I’ll buy it. Maybe we are so strong that we put in fewer hours but achieve more.

The most overworked state according to this analysis? Louisiana. They work 8.35% more than the national average. The least congested state is Delaware.

4-West Virginia

Tied at 9 – Arizona, Wyoming

Again, we claim we’re not overly overworked: New Jersey is ranked 33rd. So why am I writing this?
