Something had to be given in the second round on Sunday of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

In the competition between the University of Connecticut and the University of Florida, the two-time title tournament master of the title tournament would fall, or one of the number 1 seeds in the tournaments for men and women who are thrown out of the tournament field.

The second round of the women’s tournament lasts until Monday.

When the last buzzer in Raleigh, North Carolina, sounded, it was the careful Uconn Huskies, who at the end fell 77-75. The loss of Uconn means that a new NCAA champion will be crowned on the side of the men in San Antonio on April 7 in San Antonio.

After that, a crazy Dan Hurley, the coach of the Huskies, said, “There is a lot of re -wiring and things that I had to do in the off -season because you are only involved in this flood wave of success we had. They lose the perspective.”

The Florida Gators in 2006 and ’07 were the last team that repeated themselves before the Huskies in 2023 and ’24 as NCAA men’s basketball champions.

Since the Creighton University and St. Johns University had left the tournament after loss of the second round on Saturday, the game on Sunday also meant that Uconn was the only remaining school for the Big East conference on Sunday.

Now only the SEC, the Big 12, the Big Ten and the ACC in the sweet 16 of the men are shown. The SEC still has seven teams left.

The defending champion South Carolina meets the women’s side

It seemed certain that the state of Colorado, after winning his first tournament of the Mountain West Conference to conquer the automatic berth into a NCAA tournament, priority.

“You are experiencing the heights of lifting a championship trophy. What these boys did this year is really one of the most incredible things I am involved in coaching,” said Rams coach Niko afterwards. “Unfortunately, these things happen too.”

On the side of women, the top seeds mainly drove through one-sided competitions. The defending champion South Carolina changes after a 64-53 triumph over the Indiana Hoosiers to the Sweet 16.

“It wasn’t nice,” said USC coach Dawn Staley, after the Gamecocks had driven to the Sweet 16 for the 11th time in a row. “But at that point it doesn’t have to be. You only have to score more points than the other team and work out the kinks.”

Indiana had the lead at half-time, 26-25.

USC is waiting for the winner of the second game on Monday between Alabama and Maryland.
