Duckbill app review: Price, features and more

Have you ever thought how nice it would be to have a personal assistant? You might notice it while you’re frantically running from one errand to the next with barely a minute to spare, or when you’re trying to schedule a doctor’s appointment while simultaneously answering emails. Instead of dealing with the chaos alone, your assistant will step in, keep you informed – and maybe even give you a little more time to relax.

Personal assistants (PAs) are typically reserved for CEOs and celebrities who are busy and need help managing their personal and professional lives. Your assistants also plan events, make phone calls, buy gifts, remember birthdays – whatever you need and they can do it. If that sounds like a dream come true, the same level of VIP care is now available through an app called Duckbill, which does all of this and more with the help of human experts and AI.

All you have to do is set up “tasks” in the app and then forget about them. As you go about your day – or relax with a drink and a soothing face mask – the Duckbill team works behind the scenes to plan events, pay bills and organize your life. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it’s honestly made me feel like I’m on top of everything. Here you will find everything you need to know.

What you should know about duckbills

Co-founded by Meghan Joyce in 2022, Duckbill aims to put all of your annoying little tasks on autopilot. Instead of remembering a million things or wasting time repeating the same task every day, you can plan everything in the app – and the app does it for you.

There are so many things you can use Duckbill for, including everyday administrative tasks like paying bills and finding movers in your area, but also health-related tasks like finding a good therapist in your network or booking a dentist appointment.

It can also create a list of game ideas for a birthday party, recommend books, buy gifts, find a pottery class nearby, search for a great wedding planner, schedule grocery deliveries, remind you of an upcoming car inspection, and more.

The work is done by Duckbill’s team of “co-pilots,” who are real people, along with Bill, the app’s AI platform. If you need to complete a task, you can send an SMS, email or message through the app and you will receive a response within 24 hours. Don’t know where to start? There is a list of suggested things they can do.

How it works

Once logged in, you can log a “Task” in the “Threads” tab by simply entering your request. Bill will chat with you to narrow down your preferences and clarify what needs to be done, including when the work should be done and other important details. If Bill can help you right away, he will. If not, the request is forwarded to the co-pilots.

All your tasks stay organized in the Tasks tab. Each one then goes through stages like In Progress, Scheduled, Dormant, and Completed, and you get updates on them along the way. If you don’t like what the co-pilots send you, you can continue chatting and they will come up with more ideas that suit you better.

Try it

I’m the worst when it comes to scheduling appointments. Haircut? Physician? I’ll put it off forever. I never want to search my network for a provider or read dozens of salon reviews, and I’m usually too busy to call anyway. I’ll procrastinate – and before I know it, six months have passed.

So the first thing I did was schedule a haircut with Duckbill. I went to the Threads tab and asked Bill to help me search. The AI ​​chat asked a series of questions—my price range, would I like the appointments to return, etc.—and a few hours later, Duckbill sent me three great options directly to my apartment, along with reviews, hours of operation, and contact information.

Duckbill asks for your address and billing information when you sign up, so the app already knows my neighborhood. And the appointment for a haircut was already scheduled – and I’m also reminded that I have to go again in six months.

Afterwards I was overwhelmed by my options. Did I want Duckbill to order my groceries? Planning another self-care day? I looked through the app’s directory for ideas and that’s when I realized it was possible Business For me. Air purifiers were suggested as an example and I realized I had always wanted to get one.

Within a few hours, I was sent a list of three options with reviews and links to purchase. However, they were all out of my price range, so I asked for budget options and just like that, I got two more in the $30 range. While the co-pilots can make the purchase for you – your card information is stored securely in the app – I decided to purchase the card myself. (There’s only so much control I can give up.)

Next? I wanted ideas for fun games at Friendsgiving. I asked the question in the Threads tab, where Bill asked if I wanted ideas for outdoors or indoors, trivia versus active games, and so on. I clicked through my options and clarified what I was looking for by typing more into the chat.

As if by magic, a number of options came my way, such as “Thanksgiving Heads Up,” a bluff game, one called “Memory Mastermind,” and “20 Questions with a Twist.” Each idea also came with rules and the number of players required – and yes, I really had a lot of fun trying them out over the holidays.

This app is too cool. Even though I’m far from the busiest person on the planet, I often feel overwhelmed and burned out and tend to postpone important appointments. It was a pleasure to delegate these tasks to Duckbill. Over the last few weeks it has saved me hours of internet searching and stress, but most of all it has made me feel like my life is finally in order.
