DUI driver intentionally rams car, ends up in hospital, Long Beach police say • Long Beach Post News

A suspected drunk driver was critically injured in a rollover crash this morning after she rammed into the back of another car outside a Long Beach hospital, according to police.

According to Long Beach police, the accident occurred just before 10:50 a.m. near the intersection of East 10th Street and Elm Avenue, in front of St. Mary Medical Center.

Investigators determined that a woman driving a white car “intentionally” rammed into the back of a black sedan near the intersection, causing the white car to crash into a tree and land on its side, trapping the driver inside. the police said.

The driver of the white car was taken to a hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition. She will be booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence once she receives medical clearance, police said.

It’s unclear why the driver of the white sedan allegedly tried to ram the other car.
