Duke Energy is preparing for potential heavy storms and asks customers to be ready

Duke Energy monitors the forecasts and prepares for storms that have the potential to later generate harmful winds and floods in its territory from Indiana Service.

“A critical component of security in storms is prepared,” said Clint Carahhan, General Manager for Emergency Prevention at Duke Energy. “We have regular storm planning all year round and want our customers to also be prepared so that they can react quickly during a storm.”

Prepare

• Make sure that mobile phones remain charged and that you have sufficient supply of flashlights, batteries, bottle water, non -ridden food and medication.

• If someone has special needs in your house or based on electrical life support devices, determine the actions that you would take in the event of an extended power failure, including alternative protection agreements.

Failure reporting and status updates

Duke Energy customers who have a failure during a storm can report it in the following species:

• Text up to 57801 (standard text and data fees can apply).

• Use the Duke Energy Mobile app. Download the Duke Energy app via Apple Store or Google Play from a smartphone.

• Visit Duke-energy.com/outage on a desktop computer or a mobile device.

• Call the automated failure registration system below 800. Poweron (800.343.3525).

• Get the latest information about restoration efforts by registering for default warnings.

• Visit Duke Energy’s interactive failure card on the company’s website to find current information on power outages, including the total number of system -wide failures and estimated recovery times.

• Electric current flows slightly through water.

• Do not drive over – and do not stand nearby – rounded electrical lines.

• Never replace a fuse or touch a circuit breaker with wet hands or standing on a wet or damp surface.
