DURHAM, N.C. – Two of the newest members of the Duke football program capped off their high school careers MaxPreps All-America honors. Defensive lineman Bryce Davis and linebacker Elliott Schaper received first team recognition.

Davis, who competed in the 2025 Under Armor Next All-America Game last week, is a four-star prospect. He played four seasons at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC under head coach Darryl Brown. As a senior, Davis led the Whirlies to the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs and captured the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A title. He finished his final season with 125 total tackles, 37 tackles for a loss, 27 sacks, five forced fumbles and eight pass breakups as Grimsley finished 16-0.

Schaper is a three-star prospect who was part of a state championship team (2021), a runner-up team (2024) and two semifinal teams (2022 and 2023) at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. As a senior, he served as team captain and was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Tony Salazar. In his final season, he recorded 128 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss and 12 sacks. As a junior he received Austin American-Statesman Central Texas Defensive Player of the Year awards and Texas District 26-6A Defensive MVP awards by a vote of the league’s coaches.

Duke finished its season last week with an overall record of 9-4 as head coach Manny Diaz coordinated Mike Elko as the only Duke head coach to win nine games in his debut season.
