Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has finally asked the news that he joined Martin Scorses’s new film as head of Martin Scorseses. The still unnamed film follows a Hawaiian crime boss that is offered to control organized crime in the US state, and also plays Emily Blunt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Johnson’s casting was announced at the end of February and in mid -March he addressed the news on Twitter. “Thankful for the most creative time of my career – work closely with my friends and of course the Maestro Marty Scorsese,” he wrote.

“In the 1960s, 70s and 80s, The Mafia New York, Miami, Chicago, Vegas and a particularly strong stop at the island that I grew up – Hawaii. There are still much more. Aloha Nui Loa.”

The upcoming film will be written by Nick Bilton and will play in Hawaii in the 1960s and 70s when a charismatic mob boss rise to build up a powerful criminal empire. On the deadline, “it is based on the inexhausted true story of a man who fought to preserve his home with a ruthless search for absolute power – and lit the last great American mob saga, in which the war for cultural survival takes place in the most unlikely places: paradise.”

Johnson has been busy in recent years and was the headliner of blockbusters like Black Adam and Red. He also shot Moana’s live action version and also has Benny Safdies Film The Smashing Machine on the horizon, which marks its pivot to more dramatic roles.
