Earthquake strokes near the Pacific island of Nation Tonga, days after a deadly Myanmar quake

Tonga, an archipelago nation in the Ocean archipelago, which includes around 170 islands, has torn a large earthquake.

The US Geological Survey estimated that the quake of 7.0 sizes about 60 miles northeast of the main island, Tongatapap, where the capital Nuku’alofa is located, and about 50 miles southeast of another island in the archipelago called Pangai. Early observations by USGS that have been proposed have experienced parts of Tongatepu and Pangai easily or moderate shake due to the tremor.

So far, no damage or injuries have been reported. The earthquake occurred at 1:18 a.m. local time – technically in the early Monday morning – a tsunami warning that advised people within the threat area to evacuate services, according to Tonga Meteorological, in order to protect in steel or concrete buildings or as designated tsunami vacuation points. The Pacific Tsunami warning center in Honolulu, Hawaii, also issued a warning message that warned of potentially dangerous waves that were connected to the earthquake, but the center has since said that the tsunami threat has passed.

The director of Tonga Meteorological Services, Laitia Fifita, said that the agency had carefully monitored the sea level, but a few hours after the quake did not find any dangerous activities, reported the local news page Talanoa o Tonga.
