Elon Musk donated more than $250 million to Donald Trump’s campaign, including at least $75 million in the final weeks before the vote, US election records show.

Documents filed with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday show that Musk donated more than $238.5 million to America Pac, a political action committee that the Tesla boss himself founded and which has become one of Tesla’s main fundraising tools Trump became.

The documents show that Musk made three individual donations totaling $25 million to America Pac in the second half of October alone.

Musk also donated $20.5 million to the pro-Trump RBG Pac, named after the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, bringing Musk’s total support to the president-elect’s campaign to over $259 million. According to the documents, Musk was the only donor to RBG Pac.

The numbers underscore the lengths Musk was willing to go to ensure Trump’s election victory in November. Since then, the billionaire has formed an ever closer alliance with the president-elect.

Last month, Musk was tapped to oversee a project to improve the efficiency of the federal government alongside former Trump rival Vivek Ramaswamy.

On Thursday, Trump appointed Musk-allied venture capitalist David Sacks as the White House’s artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency czar.

The existence of RBG Pac has sparked controversy as the family of liberal-leaning Ginsburg, an advocate for gender equality and women’s rights, denies any connection to the Trump campaign.

Ginsburg died in September 2020 and was replaced by Trump candidate Amy Coney Barrett shortly before this year’s presidential election.

RBG Pac’s website features images of Trump and Ginsburg with the caption “Great minds think alike” and claims they have the same views on a federal abortion ban. Ginsburg was a strong supporter of individual abortion choice and had publicly criticized Trump.

Musk founded America Pac in mid-2024 and focused his spending on battleground states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.

The billionaire endorsed Trump in July after the Republican candidate survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
