The nominations were originally planned for January 17. After the forest fires were burned in Los Angeles by the Pacific palisades, Altadena and other areas on January 7, the academy missed its election window and remained annoying nominations. Fresh fire outside of Los Angeles lasted on Thursday during the nominations, which were announced by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott.

Since so many from the fires in the film industry, some asked the academy to cancel the Oscars as a whole. The leaders of the academy have argued that the ceremony must be continued on March 2, for their economic effects on Los Angeles and as a symbol of resilience for the industry. The organizers have sworn, this year’s awards will “celebrate the work that combines us as a global film community and recognize those who fought so courageously against the forest fires”.

“We will think about the latest events and at the same time highlight the strength, creativity and optimism that defines Los Angeles and our industry,” said Bill Kramer, CEO of Bill Kramer, and Yang on Wednesday in an e -mail to the members.

But a large part of the usual foamness of Hollywood’s price season was severely restricted due to the fires. The film academy canceled its annual nominations. Other events were moved or reduced. On Wednesday, Kramer and Yang said that the original song nominated will not be performed this year. Conan O’Brien, whose house was spared from the fires in the Pacific palisades.

The Oscar nominations were followed by an expiry and expiry year for Hollywood, in which it recorded expansive delays according to the strike, wide swaths of unemployment workers due to an industry-wide slow slowdown in January. Perhaps the most humble was the presidential elections that Trump was brought back to office in a race in which the podcaster Joe Rogan was more fluctuating than all A-listers than everyone.

At the same time, the industry gathered, even in the middle of a downturn for the superhero film “and” Moana 2 “, a film that was originally developed as a series for Disney+. These films missed the nominations on Thursday, with the exception of” Inside Out “, who join the best animated nominated by “The Wild Robot”, “Flow”, “Memoire of a Snail” and “Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl”.

This uncertain state of the films seemed to reflect in the nominations that were spread on films, which were both widespread and not noticed, released and mostly streamed.

But in contrast to last year, when Hollywood gained the success of “Oppenheimer”, the film year 2024 offered no clear leader for the best honor in the industry. At least four or five films – including “The Brutalist”, “Emilia Pérez”, “Anora”, “Conclave” and “Wicked” – have at least four or five films that go to the Oscar ceremony to the Oscar ceremony – see.
