Emma Raducanu: I love the support that I get here in Madrid

Shortly after Emma Raducanu had completed a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 6: 4 victory over the Dutch woman Suzan Lamens in the first round Mutua Madrid, the Brit found that it was three years ago since she last won a match against Outdoor Clay.

Three years can feel like a life in the world of professional tennis, and Raducanu recognizes that it will be a marathon to find out your game on the clay, no sprint.

To be honest, I don’t have the feeling that this is used to it, experiencing it (on sound), ”said Raducanu reporter at Caja Magica before she came together with the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.

“I think it feels completely new to me and I think I agree to accept it, and I agree that you know that it is a surface that can be great for me, just because of the way I play and my sportiness, but for the moment it is not one that I feel incredibly amazing and confident.

“But I think to just learn and play myself into these tournaments, the Bank of Experience will help in the future.”

The victory against Lamens was not an uncomplicated matter and it required a lot of hustle and bustle from Raducanu, which fell three times and 61% of her first services landed, but it still managed to push through in straight sets.

The 2021 US Open Champion was satisfied with how resilient it was throughout the two -hour game and was grateful that Andy Murray’s former coach Mark Pethey was in her corner. Petchy, who also makes a comment on tennis tournaments, trains Raducanu on adhoc and has been a loud presence in her games since Miami. The long -time girlfriend and mentor Jane O’Donoghue has also been part of Raducanu’s travel fire in the past few months.

“It is really nice to have the coaching on the pitch and to communicate with you and to involve you during the game. I think you put me great in certain tense moments,” said Raducanu, who has come back to the quarter -finals in Miami for the first time since August 2022.

Raducanu is 3-2 in the Caja Magica 3-2, with one of these three victories against her next opponent to be against her next opponent in 2022.

The 22-year-old Raducanu has her time in Madrid-a city that she sees as one of her favorites in Europe. She was seen as she went for a football during her opening game during her opening, and she joked that her footless skills had to stay in the works once or twice as she had to fish the ball out of the water.

“I love the support that I get here in Madrid. I think the people and the energy that the crowd is really into the crowd,” she added.

“I felt great support wherever I went on my side and it’s really nice. I also love Madrid as a city, it is probably one of my favorites in Europe. So it’s really cool.

“It is only the challenge with the height, it is difficult and I think if I develop, I think my start the point can become a better weapon, especially for a serve. I think I turn back pretty well, so somehow make this strength even stronger.”
