Enzo Maresca labels Cole Palmer Tor Dürre “a mental thing”

Chelsea striker Cole Palmer’s 16-game goal is more of a mental problem than a tactical or technical problem, said manager Enzo Maresca.

The 22-year-old England International had a remarkable debut campaign in Chelsea last season, scored 27 goals and registered 15 templates in 48 games.

This time, however, Palmer has found the back of the network in all competitions.

Maresca believes that it is only a matter of time until the player breaks his drought.

“It is certainly a mental thing, it is neither tactical nor technically,” Maresca told reporters before the home game of the Premier League against 13th place Everton on Saturday.

“Cole is still the player who scored 14 goals in 20 games. The style is the same, the manager is the same, the club is the same.

“You can see that he is a bit worried because he wants to help the team. You can see that he has a bit of struggling with it. But he showed how happy he was to Fulham. It is only a matter (whether) we can win games. We can certainly score goals.

“If you go back the game for the game, he had at least every game one or two chances, so it’s not about how the team plays.”

Chelsea is located in the Premier League table with 57 points from 33 games, as they follow the qualification of the Champions League for the next season. They take fifth place from two points in Newcastle United.
