Eva Longoria about life in Spain, hosting and 50 is 50

Eva Longoria, whose decades of career in Hollywood has developed from the actress to the director, goes into the “second act” of her life and split her time between Spain and Mexico. She also celebrates her 50th birthday this spring. What does your morning routine look like?

I wake up and the first thing I do is to go down the stairs and make a coffee. I love the ritual of somewhat warm, the ritual of the smell that starts my day with a smooth, creamy latte. And Nespresso makes it so easy. I love the smell of coffee, the sound of the machine, the hot milk – the whole process for me has really been rooted in me since I was young. I used to make coffee for my father when he was working at 6 a.m., that was my annoying duty. And so the smell is so nostalgic for me.

They recently moved from LA and share their time between Spain and Mexico. What are some of your favorite dishes or dishes from Spain and Mexico?

Mexico has the best breakfast in the world. In Europe, people eat a piece of bread or a croissant and coffee. In the United States it is eggs and bacon. But in Mexico they have Huevo Rancheros, Molletes, Enfrijoladas, Chilaquiles; I mean, a breakfast menu is like four pages in a restaurant in Mexico. In Spain I love Jamón and Fuet, which comes from Catalonia – this dried sausage – and all Arroz: not only Paella from Valencia, but all the different Arroz, rices, call it. If you live in Europe, you have to buy things almost every day because there are not many preservatives. I came in Spain and bought two bread bread, 18 bananas, and I thought how That will take a monthAnd the next day everything got bad. And I thought What?

Who will organize the best dinner parties for your famous friends or is a great cook?

Me. I am the host. I organize everything – every set, grill every weekend, every birthday dinner – I am the one in my group that does it.

What is a good dinner party?

People. It’s not about the menu. It’s not about your table setting. It’s not about the ambience. It’s about the curation of the conversation. Sometimes I will be like So and so come overnight, so I don’t think they would get along with that and soOr sometimes I’ll think I actually think you are so the other way around that they would get along.

What is the last meal you cooked for dinner?

It was yesterday when I ended up here. I cook every day. I cook everything for my son. I did a lot of booklings at home. I always make my associations. I make mayonnaise and butter for the month. I make our sandwich bread.

Making the butter is first class.

It’s easy! I make honey butter, I make salty butter, garlic butter.

What is a restaurant (or two) that you always have to go to when you are in New York?

Avra is good. Mary is good. IL Mulino is a classic and bilboquet. Between Bilboquet and IL Mulino, which are opposite each other, I spend my whole time here.

Speaking of NYC, how was it to play an increased version of yourself in the last season Only murders in the building?

It was the best character I’ve ever played. I mean, it was so much fun when they called me and they said: “You will play Eva (Longoria).” I said, “What?” And it was written so well and the best is the amount of talent on the show; To be with Eugene Levy, Melissa McCarthy, Meryl Streep, Zach Galifianakis together with the Trio (Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short) was just so much fun – Paul Rudd! Every day on the set I thought: “Who is still on this show?”

Did you look at comfort, television programs or films?
I’m currently watching all the films of the award -winning season: Emilia PérezPresent Nosferatu. conclaveI just saw; Oh my god, Ralph Fiennes was incredible – and Stanley Tucci. At the moment I only get all the films in our Akademie demonstration room. Of course I also watched Evil And Moana And everyone else.

Any New Year’s resolutions for this year?

I will be 50 this year, so it’s a big milestone – no age, only in the like, Okay, what is the second chapter of my second act look like? And only make decisions, daily decisions that influence the rest of the next 50 years. It is daily decisions that you carry out this form, who will be, what you do, what defines you, your heritage. What would you say is the best advice you received in these first 50 years of life?

My mother always said: “Never forget where you come from” and “always remember your roots”. But I try to live according to the golden rule: treat people like you – do others, how you want them to get to you. And then this very famous quote from Maya Angelou: “People will forget what they said, they will forget what they have done, but they will never forget how they felt them.” And so I always try to make my interactions with everyone full of light, love and positivity, and that they will get it going: “It was so beautiful; I don’t even remember what we talked about, but it was so pleasant. “So these are a few different advice areas.

What would you look at the worst advice you received?
In my directorial career I saw bad examples of the habits of some bad directors, and I was like. I definitely don’t want to do such a set. I would want to be different.
