Even after a strong week, the UNC women’s basketball program can’t move up in the AP poll

After handily defeating Indiana in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on Monday and a commanding victory over NC Central on Friday, we all expected Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program to rise in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Well, the jokes about us…

The Tar Heels gained no ground in this week’s poll, maintaining the 16th spot in the rankings. North Carolina was passed by TCU, which moved up eight spots to reach this week’s top 10.

With Notre Dame’s relegation, Duke is now the highest-ranked ACC school. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 8 in this week’s rankings, while the Fighting Irish are ranked No. 10. Louisville (No. 22) is the other ACC school in this week’s poll.

Of course they always say, “Don’t get caught up in the top 25 rankings.” However… ASK SOME RESPECT FOR THE NAME TAR HEELS!

North Carolina played great basketball as the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament title alone should have put them at least one spot ahead in the polls. The UNC women’s basketball program needs to continue to prove itself as they have an important matchup with Kentucky this week in the ACC/SEC Challenge that can definitely help them move up the rankings a week from now.
