The youthful son of the former New York Yanke’s star Brett Gardner seems to have died by suffocation after having eaten something during a family vacation in Costa Rica, the authorities in the Central American country announced on Monday.

The 14 -year -old Miller Gardner apparently died from Asphyxia after a possible poisoning after she apparently had some food, “said an official at the judicial investment agency of Costa Rica NBC News.

Miller’s body was found on Friday in a hotel room in Manuel Antonio, a popular resort area on the country’s Pacific Coast, said Juan Pablo Alvarado Garcia.

The cause of death is temporarily and the officials are waiting for an autopsy and a toxicological analysis, he said.

In a statement on Sunday, Miller’s parents said her son died after he had become sick with several other family members. He died peacefully in his sleep, they said in the explanation.

“Miller was a beloved son and brother and we cannot understand our life without his contagious smile,” the explanation says. “He loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, his family and his friends. He lived his life to the full every day.”

Gardner, an outfield, spent his 14-year career with the Yankees. He helped the team to win the World Series in 2009 one year after his MLB debut.
