Experts predict that the river levels will increase next week. Some parishes that prepare

Baton Rouge, La. (WAFB) – “We are only on the possibility of a flood event,” said Paul Leblanc, director of Assumption Parish Ohsep.

The water level currently has apple cards on the Mississippi, which give people in Baton Rouge flood warnings. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the river will probably be about 40.5 feet and five feet higher in a week than at the moment.

But in the Parish Assumpation it is a different story.

“It was probably very high last Sunday,” said Chris Black, a local Tackle shop owner. “But it has probably fallen one and a half foot since Sunday.”

Black is part in Pierre. He has said the water levels since the load bar in Bayou Chene decreased at the beginning of this week. Since the baking water is stopped by efforts to prevent floods, the water level is stable. In some places it is even below average, which affects fishing in the nearby area.

“Everything affects fishing. I mean everything,” said Black. “From high water to low water.”

“Actually, it helps on this page because we don’t have the influx of high water,” said Tony Arceneaux after we got out of his boat. Low water levels can concentrate fish in fewer areas and leave hotspots for fishermen.

Everyone here knows that the weather can change quickly. For this reason, Leblanc still takes measures to ensure that people stay dry when the water level increases.

“From now on we are just preparing ourselves,” emphasized Leblanc. “We have not used assets, but we have Tiger tubes ready. We have sandbags ready to go, and we only keep an eye on the levels of the Bayou and the rivers in the parish assumptions.”
