Family of Pfc. Roland L. Bragg was enthusiastic about the redesignation before the army was redesigned: “Leaded a good life”

Fort Bragg, NC (WTVD) – After the official redesign of the Fort Bragg takes place on Friday, the grandchildren of the Veteran of the Second World War Roland L. Bragg share their excitement for this important occasion.

“I hope that you will learn a little about our grandfather and be really proud that the renaming is named someone who has lived a good life,” said Rebecca Amirpour, granddaughter of PFC. Roland L. Bragg.

According to Amirpour and her sister Jennifer Bell, several family members traveled to North Carolina to experience the redesign. Her grandfather has disappeared for 23 years, but they are honored to represent him in this way.

“I was very surprised, but then it was also a good feeling,” said Bell. “It is a huge basis. It is the biggest basis I think.”

Fort Bragg was originally named after General Braxton Bragg, who was a West Point graduate and slave owner. It was renamed Fort Liberty in June 2023 after one of the basic values of America. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth quickly restored the name Bragg when accepting an office.

Fort Bragg was part of nine military installations that were renamed the racist billing after George Floyd’s death.

“Our family was pushed into something that could be split, but at the end of the day I honestly feel really proud and excited,” said Amirpour. “Our Grandad was such a good man. Really an honor to be here and honor him.”
