Fans left in disbelief after Fulham’s Issa Diop avoided a red card against Liverpool – Liverpool

Fans are in disbelief at how Issa Diop avoided a red card against Liverpool

Less than a minute into Liverpool’s away game against Fulham, Issa Diop made a weak tackle on Andy Robertson.

Liverpool fans were stunned by how Issa Diop escaped a red card for a shocking foul less than a minute into Fulham’s game at Anfield.

The Premier League leaders wanted to get off to a quick start at the 3pm kick-off, but left-back Andy Robertson was left on the ground after a nasty foul from Issa Diop.

The former West Ham defender missed the ball and rammed Robertson straight into the knee with a reckless tackle that came too late.

Before the tackle, there was an offside position with a delayed flag. Diop then received a yellow card for the foul, but Liverpool fans were furious and felt he should be sent off.

One fan said: “How come Diop didn’t get a red card for this?”

A second wrote: “How is Issa Diop still doing on the pitch? Clear red!”

A third commented: “What is actually going on with these incompetent officials? Disgusting tackle from Diop. I can’t believe it’s not red.”

Another added: “This could easily be a red for Diop. Rivets on the knee??? Why wasn’t this investigated?”

A final user said: “Diop got away unscathed, if this foul had been committed after 10-15 minutes it would have been red.”

To make matters worse, Andreas Pereira gave Fulham an early 1-0 lead shortly after a poor foul on Ryan Gravenberch, before Robertson showed a straight red card for bringing down Harry Wilson after a poor touch of the ball allowed the former player to score allowed the Liverpool academy to shoot a dart in the back.

Robertson was the last defender and was given his marching orders after a VAR check confirmed Wilson was onside. Ryan Gravenberch dropped back into defense after the red card, while Slot looked for a solution to deal with Fulham’s numerical superiority.

Liverpool have not suffered a defeat since their shock home defeat to Nottingham Forest on September 14, but the team’s incredible form is in serious danger of coming to an end at the hands of Marco Silva’s side.

Arne Slot’s men could end the weekend just a point clear at the top if they suffer defeat and in-form Chelsea beat Brentford on Sunday.
