Farm Patch helps nimble decorators get an early start on the holiday season

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Farm Patch opened its tree farm Friday morning to kick off the year’s Christmas festivities.

Many people start decorating for Christmas as soon as Thanksgiving is over; Patch Tree Farm was open and ready for the early decorators. The tree farm opened the Friday after Thanksgiving and welcomed everyone to celebrate the holiday with many varieties of fresh evergreens.

“We’re excited to be a part of everyone’s Christmas tradition,” said Mark Scarmardo, Farm Patch manager. “People were excited. You know, a lot of people were ready to get their trees. We opened the gates and people started pouring in, so we’re super excited.”

A special tree will not be on display this year because it has already been reserved. Scarmardo told KBTX that the Farm Patch hand-selects the George Bush Library Christmas tree every year.

“As far back as I can remember, we provided the library with their Christmas tree,” Scarmardo said. “We bring it with us, it comes from North Carolina, where we get our Fraser Firs.”

The Tree Farm offers many options for every Christmas decorating need. The trees are about 1.2 to 6 meters tall and some were covered with artificial snow.

The farm also sells wreaths, decorative logs and tree accessories.

“We have fine furs, Fraser firs and some Black Hill spruce,” Scarmardo said. “We’ll soon have Douglas’s and giant firs too, and maybe a few Nordmann furs too.”

Patch Tree Farm is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 940 University Drive East, College Station.
