Farsi praise

Mo Farsi sang the praise of the Columbus crew head coach Wilfried Nancy after another good start to her MLS campaign.

Farsi arrived in Columbus from the cavalry FC in 2022 and made 93 appearances for the crew in all competitions. He scored five goals and registered 13 templates.

It was an integral part of the team that raised the MLS Cup in 2023 and the Ligues Cup last season. Columbus started this season.

You sit in third place in the Eastern Conference classification, one point behind the leaders Inter Miami and this weekend faces each other with Montreal, who do not yet have to win.

Farsi’s performances have become a main support in the team, but the 25-year-old midfielder said that his form with the crew was simply due to Nancy’s management.

“It is an honor for me to be part of his team since 2023 when he arrived,” he said. “He is a great tactic. We can all see how we play.

“Of course, teams try to adapt to us, but he always seems to have an answer. I have learned a lot (under Nancy). I love playing in a back-three.

“He gave me some freedom on my side and helped me to reach another level to be a better player, so I am very happy and look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Montreal now only recorded her second point of the season after pulling 1-1 with other fighters in her last MLS encounter.

It was the first game that Montreal had played since Laurent Courtois was released. The 46-year-old dismissed after monitoring her worst start to a season since 2012.

Interims head coach Marco Donadel was satisfied with her performance against the fire last time and would like to continue to implement his style.

“We are happy. It is a very good performance. We are satisfied with the performance, but we are not satisfied with the result,” said Donadel.

“I immediately saw in the eyes of the boys that they were of course happy and relieved. But at the same time they weren’t really happy and in my opinion that is a very good thing.

“We want to play with the ball and are not satisfied when the opponent tries to play.

“It is something you showed and I am very happy because I asked you this evening, and only that and you did it.”

Columbus Crew – Diego Rossi

Rossi scored his second bracket of the season on Saturday when the crew was won against DC United.

Together with Tani Oluwaseyi and Tai Baribo, the Uruguayaner is one of three players with more than one multi-goal game this season.

Montreal only scored three goals this season, the lowest lowest in the Eastern Conference (Level with the New England Revolution), but had seven different players who have recorded a contribution.

Owusu (one goal, an assist) is the only player who is involved in more than one, and he will be the key if Montreal is to annoy the crew this weekend.

The crew is unbeaten in five games in a row against Montreal (W3 D2) and corresponds to the longest run of the two teams against the others in the 31 meetings between the pages.

Columbus is also unbeaten in six games in club history in 2010 and 2020. The only campaign that took longer before their first defeat was in the regular 2010 (eight games).

Montreal now has only two points in six games in one season for the first time in club history. They are one of five teams with two or fewer points this season, most teams with less than three points after six games of one season in MLS history.
