Fayetteville shooting | 1 dead, 2 injured in shooting in Fayetteville, police investigating three crime scenes

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — A chaotic scene erupted in Fayetteville on Tuesday evening after several people were shot – one fatally – and police were called to three different locations.

Police Chief Kem Braden called it a “disaster” and originally told ABC11 that a total of four people were shot. FPD later clarified that “several” were shot.

All of the victims were shot in the 200 block of Lieber Street around 8:45 p.m. One victim made his way to Powers Swain Chevrolet at 4709 Bragg Blvd., and another victim ended up in the 1600 block of Tryon Drive.

Contrary to the police chief’s previous statement, an FPD spokesperson later told ABC11 that he could not confirm the total number of victims shot. In a fluid situation, details can change “quickly”.

The victims were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where one was pronounced dead.

Braden said the shootings occurred between two groups of people.

Police initially assumed the shootings took place in three locations.

The condition of the gunshot victims was not immediately known.

The police are actively investigating.
