Nico Hülkenberg was investigated

Haas is currently involved in a fight with alpine And RB for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championshipwith their fourth place on the grid giving the American team a big boost.

However, it has since been confirmed that Hülkenberg was given a three-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race because of the incident.

An official statement said: “Stewards heard from the driver of car 27 (Nico Hulkenberg), a representative of the team, and reviewed the maneuvering system data, videos, timing and in-car video evidence.”

“The driver did not deny during the hearing that he had failed to follow the race director’s instructions, but stated that he had no choice but to break the rules in order to complete a lap.”

“Whilst the stewards recognize that the location of the team’s workshops limits their ability to send the cars onto the track, this can never be used as an excuse for a breach of regulations.”

“The ban on overtaking in certain areas such as the pit lane or in this case the pit exit is introduced to prevent potentially dangerous situations and therefore the stewards decide that a drop in grid position is justified in this case.”
