Final Show Revealed – Chuck Scarborough Leaving NBC

He’s the most famous face in New York television news, and his unique tenure as the city’s longtime (and beloved) news anchor is soon coming to an end.

In fact, we just got some new details about the final scheduled broadcast of a legend in television news: NBC New York’s Chuck Scarborough.

Legendary new host Chuck Scarborough announces his retirement

NBC New York’s leading news anchor, Chuck Scarborough, announced his resignation before the Thanksgiving holiday.

The anchor, who has worked at the station for more than 50 years, announced he will retire in about three weeks.

News of Chuck’s impending retirement was announced at the end of the network’s November 22 broadcast at 6 p.m.

“It’s time to pass the torch. “My last newscast will be December 12th, and I will have more to say to you – and my extraordinary colleagues at NBC 4 then – but for now I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me into your living rooms have,” he said at the time.

When is the last broadcast of Chuck Scarborough on NBC 4?

Chuck is currently the host of the station’s 6 p.m. show.

So that means Chuck Scarborough’s final show will air live on NBC New York (WNBC-TV) on Thursday, December 12th at 6 p.m.

Sometimes anchors reappear on the station after retirement, but it was not clear whether Chuck has any plans to work on special projects.

What’s planned for Chuck Scarborough’s final broadcast?

With a career spanning more than five decades, the channel probably has a lot planned for the broadcast – including segments from the host’s career and appearances by special guests.

After all, for most of our lives, Chuck has covered every major event in the city, from the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 (check it out here) to the COVID-19 pandemic and even the U.S. Airways water landing. Flight 1549 and even the death of John Legend (check it out here).

Of course, many former faces of the network could pay tribute to Chuck, including his beloved former on-air partner Sue Simmons and more.

In fact, NBC held an epic on-air celebration earlier this year as Scarborough celebrated his unprecedented 50th anniversary with the network with appearances on the TODAY Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
